Television work includes Judge Dee’s Mystery, Hetty Feather, Combat Kids, Grushko, Roman Mysteries, Poldark, Casualty, Eastenders, The Royal, Where The Heart Is, Plastic Man, The Broker’s Man and Harry.
Film
Lore, directed by Cate Shortland, has won many awards worldwide including the Australian Writers Guild Award for Best Screenplay, the Locarno Film Festival Audience Award, and the Hamburg Film Festival Critics Award. Among other nominations it was a nominee for Best Film at the London Film Festival. It was also Australia’s official entry for the Oscars.
Dance of the Wind, directed by Rajan Khosa, won the Audience Award at the London Film Festival, and both Best Actress and the Audience Award at Nantes Film Festival, among others.
Books
Hillstation is published by Oldcastle Books. The Art of Screenwriting: A Writer’s Guide, is published by Creative Essentials and has been translated into various languages. It has been a key text for the Channel 4 writers course and a text book in universities worldwide. Robin contributed poetry to A Wild and Precious Life, a Recovery Anthology.
Theatre and Radio
It all began at the Hampstead Pentameters, run by the legendary Leonie Scott-Matthews with a series of plays, The Cube, Dodgy Times, and The Whole Hand. The last of the trio led to a radio commission from BBC Radio 3. Since then, Robin has had rehearsed readings at Paines Plough and Bath Theatre Royal, and a production of his verse play Bones for Burning in Isleworth and Hampstead. A setting for Mozart’s The Impresario was performed variously in festivals, and Spider, a play for young adults, has had numerous productions in schools around the country. All God’s Children for Radio 3 was nominated for an Imison Award. Further radio drama includes A Fire In The Sun, produced by Peter Kavanagh for Radio 4, and Alixion, a Dr Who drama, for Big Finish/BBC.
Robin contributed to the recent book ‘Ace Jacket The Inside Story’, published by AUK, celebrating the Dr Who character’s famous badges, raising money for National Autism and Autism All Stars.
